My Nana past away Saturday morning. I have since been reflecting about her life and the time we have spent together. I have nothing but sweet memories of her and her late husband Jim. Some of the things I remember are:
Cottage cheese and peaches
Curvy hard candy
Cigarettes
Playing football in her backyard
Her pink socks
Crossword puzzles
Her feisty personality
How much she loved me
Her scratchy laugh
Her honesty
Her red hair
Those are just a few things I remember about her. Our relationship was stronger when I was much younger, but I will miss her and hope that this next life brings her happiness. Love you, Nan!

Dear Jess,
I also remember sweet things about Nana. Brianne and I saw her this last week. She was in pain, but enjoyed us seeing her and greeting her warmly. We gave her a nice picture frame with our pictures in it. Aunt Marge was there doing her darndest to take care of Nana. I look forward to hearing more on her life during the funeral ceremony.
Peace Always.
How 'bout these:
Grandpa Jim's recliner
Biggest big-screen TV I ever saw
The ancient camper from Gramps & Grammy
"Hell, yes."
All the pictures of the cousins
Nana's bowling pictures
Her fireplace (which never had a fire. ever.)
The nautical painting above the fireplace
Matchbox collection on the mantle
Always dressed nicely
The mischievous twinkle in her eye
How happy she was at our house
those really are some GREAT memories! There are actually some that I don't remember, like the ancient camper, hell yes, and I vaguely remember the picture. Thanks for sharing.
How could you not remember, "Hell, yes?"
It was the way she answered most questions in the affirmative.
me: "Would you like a drink of water, Nana?"
Nana: "Hell, yes."
me: "Do you think the Jazz will win tonight, Nana?"
Nana: "Hell yes."
me: "Do you mind if I ask you to cut down on the swears?"
Nana: "Hell, yes."
How come I don't remember "Hell, yes?" I do remember. . .
little blue battery operated motorcycle
playing in her hilly back yard
brown house
Grandpa snoring in his chair
lemon cake
spaghetti-o's
Her laugh
Her sincere, tight hugs
colorful kid's keyboard
her bringing a lemon cake to me at the airport in SLC before I left for the Netherlands
Her smile when she was around family
Okay, jen you hit some right on the head. I loved that motorcycle, the piano in the corner, spagetti-o's. I don't remember lemon cake. Thanks for sharing.
Huh. Maybe she just used "Hell, yes," around the boys.
Those are great memories. I have all of those plus- fishing along pine creek, (my favorite place on earth) frying fish for breakfast and fresh home made biskets, studing for R.S. cultural lesson, sitting with her leg up on the seat knee in the air. shower cap (pink), she was is good woman.....
I remember "Hell yes" now g-dawg. Thanks for illustrating it for us.
